Eat breakfast and bolt

Just a short one this morning, we’re about to drive up to see some of Jeffs’ family that we won’t be seeing on Christmas.

Breakfast was a leftover slab of pancake smeared with maple almond butter…

That was one delicious disaster!

No more stalling, time to get ready to go.

How far do you travel to visit family for the holidays?

A date with the hubs

It’s been a good day. I mostly sat around the house, wrapped some presents, did some cleaning, nothing special.

I’ll be really honest, this breakfast was not from this morning. Today I had pancakes, but we all know how photogenic those turn out so here’s a picture of a bowl of yogurt with granola, pecans, buckwheat, pumpkin butter, and apple butter instead…

As long as we’re being honest, this salad was also from yesterday’s lunch…

Aren’t those bean sprouts the wackiest things ever?!? They look like little alien hatchlings stretching squiggly tentacles out of their newly-cracked shells. Ok, that was gross, I don’t want to imagine that the next time I’m eating them. Too late I guess.

On to stuff that actually happened today!

We hit up Java Monkey in downtown Decatur for a coffee date. Here’s my swirly soy latte which was so creamy and delicious!

And Jeff is giving me that snide glare that says “Are you taking a picture of me?”

No honey, never.

After that we revisited Ma Li for a tasty thai dinner. We started with a refreshingly springy seaweed salad dressed in toasted sesame oil.

And had an obligatory sushi appetizer of an Amsterdam Roll and two pieces of inari. Mmmm….fried bean curd and teeny fish eggs, two of my loves.

I got spicy basil tofu which was delicious but face-meltingly spicy.

And Jeff got his favorite red curry duck.

We had a fabulous date together, I always love going to Ma Li.

Now we’re gonna finish the night by cracking open a few beers we picked up at Ale Yeah! and watching some Neflix streaming under a fuzzy blanket.

Ahhh…I’m all warm and toasty just thinking about it!

Getting back on the wagon

Boom! Christmas shopping is done! I’ve even gotten all the wrapping paper and whatnot taken care of, I’m just that awesome. 😉

Accidentally spent WAY too much on Jeff and, thinking he’d be mad that I’d gone over our limit, I told him so as to clear my conscience. Instead, he is on the couch giddily ordering more presents for me since he knows I went over. WIN. 😀

I am so glad to have that stuff all out of the way, it’s been taking up so much of my time and I’m ready to do other things. Like exercise.

I have really fallen off the wagon with fitness. I haven’t gained any weight or anything, but I can tell that I’ve lost some muscle and strength from the lack of activity. It’s just so cold outside! I know, I live in Georgia, how cold can it really be? Well, because I grew up in Georgia, I’m kind of a wimp when it comes to cold temps.

Because of that, I think I may be ready to start at a new gym after the holidays. Strangely, I love treadmills. The term “dreadmill” just isn’t in my vocabulary, I really don’t mind them! It’s nice to be able to set a pace and know it’s consistant without glancing at my Garmin every few seconds. I’m really obsessive, I like having all that information right in front of me.

So, if I’ve accepted that I’m just not going to run outdoors this winter then I need to be doing something else to stay active, and if that means paying for a gym membership until springtime, then so be it. It just sucks because I don’t really expect to use the gym for anything more than the treadmill. I would really like to start building a home gym, but we don’t exactly have the space for it right now.

I might start taking some yoga too, so maybe I’ll find that I’m plenty active this winter, we’ll just have to see.

Do you change up your fitness routines for winter?
